About the people from 'The Rescue'

Dave and Barb Anderson

Dave and Barb AndersonSince 1975 Fellowship Ministries' mission has been "to provide relevant worship resources, training, and encouragement for advancing the gospel of Jesus Christ".

Fellowship Ministries began as an umbrella organization for gospel concerts presented by husband and wife team, Dave and Barb Anderson.  By the late 70's Dave was already being asked, "Where do you get the music for that?" when they were helping to introduce such songs as "Majesty".  Sensing a need for a book of songs which included gospel and children's songs plus contemporary songs of the day, Dave Anderson  compiled and edited "The Other Songbook", now nearly 500,000 copies in print.

In 2000 Fellowship Ministries published "The Best of the Best in Contemporary Praise & Worship", the most complete compilation of praise and worship songs on the market!

For 18 years, Dave and Barb Anderson presented concerts in 16 churches every month.  By the late 80's, Dave and Barb were appearing in congregations that were "connecting" worship, music, and evangelism.  Sensing the need to expose pastors and church musicians to this new development; in 1987 Fellowship Ministries was the first organization within the Lutheran denomination to sponsor a worship and music conference which promoted what is today called "contemporary worship".  As many as 20,000 individuals have attended more than 150  conferences and seminars which have helped hundreds of thousands of worshipers "sing a new song to the Lord".  Today, Fellowship Ministries' national conference is called "Created To Praise" and the regional seminars are called "Break Forth".

Fellowship Ministries publishes "Worship Alive", a worship resource used by hundreds of congregations throughout America.

Since 1975 Dave and Barb Anderson have presented 5,000 concerts in America, Asia, Europe, Australia, New Zeland and the Middle East.  Concert venues have included churches, conferences and conventions, elementary and high schools, universities, radio and TV programs, in Eskimo and Russian villages, on a floating hotel on the Saudi Arabian shore, "in secret" in Nepal, and in thatched-roof sanctuaries in Papua New Guinea.

They have produced over 20 uplifting albums. To find out more and to find out if they will be in your area check out Fellowship Ministries.

Don Wharton

Don WhartonDon Wharton was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on December 22, 1951, the only child of Howard and Millie Gordon. Don's father died of cancer in 1963 and his mom remarried in 1964 to former professional hockey player Len Wharton. Don has a step-sister Anna and a half-brother Tom.

Don began taking piano lessons in the second grade and also developed a love of sports at that time. He played both basketball and baseball through grade school, high school, and even at Concordia College in Ann Arbor, Michigan where he was co-captain of the basketball team and a catcher/first baseman on the conference champion baseball team. He taught and coached at Concordia for three years before pursuing a full-time music ministry in 1979.

Don has performed over 3,000 concerts (at least one in all 50 states), primarily at Lutheran churches, schools, and conventions.

He recently chronicled his ministry exploits in his first book ANOTHER YEAR TRAVELIN'. The book includes his August 13, 1993 survival adventure while returning from a mission trip to the Russian Far East. The group of seven took a twin-engine Piper Navajo into the Bering Sea near Nome, Alaska and survived from 35-70 minutes in the near freezing water before being rescued by helicopter.
